The
Psychic Paramount - Live 2002 The Franco-Italian Tour CD
Drew St. Ivany - Guitar
Ben Armstrong -Bass
Tatsuya Nakatani -Drums
The
Psychic Paramount here is a power trio in the traditional rock
format (guitar, bass, drums) recorded live at performances in
Paris, Lyon, Perpignan, and Napoli in Nov./Dec. of 2002. The
group, going on tour less than one week after their first meeting,
is captured at birth in raw immediate form. Predicating experiments
with the authority of sound and primitive revival upon a rock
'n' roll platform, the music seeks to evoke a sense of urgency
and a release from the banal. A document of turbulent emergency
music grinding its entrance. All tracks originally recorded to
cassette live using one stereo microphone.
"They sound like a heavy metal This Heat! Some
tracks are just full on blasts of NOISE, wild and dense, thick
swirls of psychedelic sound, freaked out and chaotic, but even
at its most noisy it's still so musical. Loud, weird, repetitive,
hypnotic, mesmerizing, so so so good!" –Aquarius

"The Psychic Paramount initally discharge thick
streams of blown out, ultra chaotic psychedelic rock, sometimes
with guitars so pretty and dreamy they border on shoegaze, but
run through a thousand distortion and delay pedals, bombarded
with splattered backwards drumming....then move on to hypnotic
space rock freakouts, snarling sludgy psychedelic hypno rock
squall, beautiful and messy and catchy, the levels pushed into
the red, a hyperdistorted cosmic storm that sweeps you into it's
eye. Awesome. Crucial monolithic free rock." –Crucialblast.net
“… a improv-noise rock trio that transmutes
and inverts cock rock braggadocio, relies both on chance and
dexterity, and above all isn’t nearly as tangential as
most typical improvised music. Within each discordant movement
lies a molten rhythmic core, a groove per se, however obscure,
that only gains clarity through propulsion thus we’ve to
invest ourselves body and soul to glean the prize." –The
Big Takeover
"Energetic noise working like an oil pump for
your adrenaline." -Vital Weekly
"The music is dense and flowing and teaches us
the lesson that apparent cacaphony can wield truth and yield
forth fruits of musicality only the enlightened can appreciate."-Fishcom
Collective
"Intense and powerful, unpredictable and genuine."-Chain
