How can I get in touch with Public Guilt?

You can snail-mail your hate mail, fine chocolates and crappy demo tapes to: P.O. Box 4756 Baltimore, MD 21211 USA or you can email us via

Who are your distributors? Can I wholesale direct from you?
Public Guilt and Implied Sound releases are distributed exclusively in the US and Canada by Chicago Independent Distribution. Our releases are available from a wide variety of distributors who get our releases from CID. In the UK/ Europe, you can order out releases from Cargo UK and Clear Spot (Netherlands) and a handful of other folks. We are happy to deal direct to folks not in the US or Canada. Please send an email to the address above and we'll send you our rates.

Can I purchase your releases digitally?
Yes, most of our releases are available digitally. Some are not in accordance with the artist's wishes. Our releases can be purchased from the Thrill Jockey-run FINA Music Store as complete albums or as individual songs or full albums from other digital stores (such as iTunes, Amazon, Napster, Emusic, etc.) courtesy of IRIS Digital Distribution.

Will you sign my band?
No.

Can I send you a demo?
The PG release schedule is in place through 2010. We are not actively looking to work with new artists. However, we like to listen to music, so you are more than welcome to send something. Just don't expect us to be able to work with you. Thanks for your understanding.

I write for a magazine or work for a radio station. Can you send me a promo?
Possibly. Here's how things work... Public Guilt is a small label and our promo/press mailings are small as well. Some releases get as few as 10 promo's mailed out, others as many as 200. It depends on the release. All of our promo's are generally mailed out 1-3 months in advance of the release date of album. So, once an album is released, there's a 99.9% chance all of the promo's are gone and we have none to send you. Writers requesting promo's will have their addresses added to our files, but that is not a guarantee that any promo's will make it to you or that if one does, that every other PG release will be sent to you. There are hundreds of magazines, webzines, blogs, etc. and to send to each person requesting promo's would bankrupt us. So, we send to the ones that seem to fit the release the best and that will generate as much possible attention for our artists. We value reviews and reviewers, but as we are a small enterprise, our resources are limited.

I run a label/distro. Can we trade?
Maybe. I usually only trade for multiple copies of the same release if it is related to a Public Guilt artist. I may want to do a small trade to get personal copies of releases. Shoot me an email.

Why am I no longer Public Guilt's MySpace friend?
Our only friends now are PG artists. We got sick of the endless ads and shameless self-promotion for crappy bands. There's some great bands and folks on MySpace, but there is just not enough time to sift through all of the bullshit to find them. Remember when bands had websites and not just MySpace pages? We kinda miss those days. We hope that people use the PG MySpace page as a starting point to end up here, our real website. And if you want to be our friend, send us an email and say hello.

Do you have a PG facebook page?
Yes, we just set one up. It's in process, but you can find it here.

Why are there no PG009 and PG014 releases?
PG009 was going to be a Monarch! one sided LP pressed in transparent red vinyl with a black silkscreened image on the B-side. We were envisioning co-mingling pentagrams and hearts, but sadly Monarch! broke up, so we canceled the project. They have since reformed and we love them to death. PG014 was going to be the Zu "Intermediate Spirit Receiver" CD. This was going to be co-released with labels in the UK, Europe and Japan. The project was delayed due to conditions beyond the band's or our control, and the band decided to shelve the project. Three tracks from this recording session (featuring Okapi and Reeks) are available on the Zu picture disc 7" we released. And we of course continued to work with Zu. Check out PG020, the180gram, gatefold LP version of Zu's "Way of the Animal Powers."

What is this?
The definition of beauty.
